Key Qualifications:
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current CVICU experience and/or a minimum of 2 years ICU experience required
- Previous knowledge and experience of arrhythmia and 12-Lead ECG interpretation combined with hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical ventilation and ability to manage hemodynamically unstable patients is essential
- Critical Care Course with clinical training in cardiovascular intensive care preferred
- Canadian National Critical Care Certification an asset
- Ability to think critically and effectively in order to prioritize needs in emergency situations
- Highly effective decision making, problem solving and organizational skills combined with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
- Demonstrated interest in pursuing cardiac nursing continuing care opportunities
- Positive attendance and work record essential
Position Summary:
- Responsible and accountable for decisions and actions in the provision and management of nursing care for patients undergoing cardiac surgery
- Practitioner, consultant and educator for cardiac surgery patient groups and health team members
